Diva Challenge 240

The Diva Challenge this week involves leaves, to be inspired by the season.  It is autumn here and I love fall colors.  I have been doing quite a bit of work with leaves, and decided to combine this piece with a practice piece for an upcoming class I am teaching on blending colored pencils.  I used a regular 90# Canson drawing paper, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  I wanted to see how the blending would work on a regular drawing paper.  The leaves are actually stamped with Mementos tear drop stamps, and then tangled.

I drew in the branches and the flower at the bottom is also tear drop stamps. They are shaded with white gel pen and shaded with colored pencils.  The blue background is done with three different Koh-i-Noor tri-tone colored pencils and blended with prismacolor.  Layer after layer.  A wonderful way to spend a day.

  2. Your leaves are really pretty. Your layering technique produced some lovely jewel tones. Were you happy with the way the colored pencils blended on the regular paper?
