The prompt today is Hands on. Draw our hand and embellish it. I didn't take as much time preparing paper, etc., as I leave Friday morning for an 8 day trip and wanted to be sure to have it done so I wouldn't fall too far behind. I will only have basic tangle supplies with me. So I did a quick colored pencil background and then found the quote that really fit me - "You can't reach for anything new if your hands are still full of yesterday's junk."
I came back from Santa Fe with so much new information to absorb. New techniques, new tools, new ideas! The problem is I got tied up in the process. So I needed a withdrawal from all that to just tangle. Here is what I have been working on. It is 8 1/2 x 11" and the color is cheap colored pencil, but gently layered. And it is actually as pastel as the photo shows.

Well, I am not a traveler. Oh yes I will travel to an event or gathering but I am really a homebody. But I love the stories of the past. I would love to time travel and visit some favorite times - meet ancestors, see the way of life, the danger of resistance lives, the excitement of flapper days, etc. not to live, just to visit. I live through books and films. Remember family stories of Indian visits in the night but friendly visits of assistance. Not the violence. My family was an "old family." I was a late arrival and had to learn from stories. I think that is where my live of the past comes from and my dreams of time travel. So here is a collage of some of my dreams of travel.
Here is the next phase of this 12x12" zendala using the large stencil from Ann Grasso on gray Stonehenge. Slowly shaping up. The center is pretty much done and I actually put a fixative on that part because of the graphite and white chalk. The outer border is a subtle copper metallic watercolor.

Week 18 already. Our prompt was to fill a map of our city or an object with flowers. Flowers, huh? Funny, I have been drawing flowers this week already. So I live in a small suburb of the Denver Metro - the very northern part. We are a City and County. It is a hard area to know which City you are in. If you look at this map you will see why. Every direction is another city and county. Only a street divides it. One side of the street is one city and the other side is different. So I looked at the history when getting a map. Interesting! Our county became the smallest and newest in 2001. So I flowered my city. And the vine is a tollway connecting two parts and the next county but is a part of my city.
